This is a great and simple way to create metal music, riffs, and progressions. These are just half-steps we're playing.

Also, you'll notice that the first half-step is going down while the next half-step comes up.

EXTRA TIPS: Also try different techniques when applying this concept (and any music concept). For example, we started this metal riff with fast alternate, or tremolo picking. This gave it a death metal feel and sound.

You also heard these notes being played with power chords. This gave it a more black metal vibe and sound. So you can experiment with different techniques along with different notes so come up with different textures in your music.
