The Porkchop Tape (Breakbeat Tapestries 001)


Words can't even explain the mixture of emotions I have presenting this beat tape. As excited and proud I am of it, it is still bittersweet. I was finalizing the last tune, 'Lazy High Saturday weLY prkchp', on that heartbreaking morning when Porkchop passed suddenly. I started that tune after his earlier health scare and decided to keep the temporary title for it.

Inbetween waves, I was thinking about why tf the breakbeats and loops swing so late on this then-untitled tape, when I realized it was Porkchop! The rhythms are reminiscent of the nonchalant way he would always be sauntering behind me with his nails tapping and brushing across the hardwood floor, pausing, snorting, then continuing to amble to his next spot, subconsciously influencing the flow of the beats all day long, ha! His playful energy is all over the music. We miss you boy! -Profane
