Most of the world calculates pregnancy from the first day of your last period, aiming for a 40-week due date.
But France does things a little differently. Medical professionals there add an extra week, making it a 41-week pregnancy.
You probably ask: "So, if I get pregnant in France, do I get an extra week of pregnancy, or do I just tell everyone my due date is a week later?"
French babies aren't super-babies gestating for extra-long.
One of the main reasons is that it actually helps reduce the stress and pressure that often build as the due date gets closer.
A little extra wiggle room, so to speak!
So, I guess you could say the French are fashionably late, even when it comes to babies!
