The year 2022 marks the 30th anniversary since recognition of Croatia's independence by Russia and establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
As a result of existing historical conditions in the Balkans, discussions of any issues require a more comprehensive approach. Geopolitical problems in the region continue to remain important while deep political, economic and cultures ties of the Balkan countries with Russia make themselves felt.

Is it possible to say that many problems in the Balkans emerged and continue to emerge because of presence of Russia in the region is too weak? What could give a new momentum to Russian-Croatian relations in different areas? What is the current geopolitical configuration in the region?
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation Anvar Azimov, who was heading the Diplomatic Mission of Russia in Zagreb for five years, will speak about the Balkan policy of Russia. Since 1973, Mr. Azimov has been holding various diplomatic positions at the ministry's headquarters and abroad.

Mr. Azimov is a recipient of the Order of Honor, Order of Friendship, badge of honor "For honorable service: XL years", Certificate of Merit of the President of Russia and also the high national order of the Republic of Croatia "Order of Duke Branimir", and honor medals of the Anti-Fascism Union of Croatia and the city of Zagreb.
