And we're back in Buenos Aires to pick up Audrey's dad, Daniel! If you've been watching our videos for a while, you'll know that Daniel has been an integral part of the ongoing renovations in Argentina, not only advising us but also coming down to work for months at a time. This time, he's down in Argentina for 2 months, so we travelled to Buenos Aires to pick him up. We also spent a few days being tourists around Buenos Aires, eating at some of our favourite restaurants, and visiting some attractions. We had a total of 4 days in the city before boarding a bus for the seaside city of Necochea, Daniel's hometown, which we visited for the first time since he left some 55 years ago. “Everyone gains weight here!” We lament our upcoming stretchy pants as we indulge.

All three of us order the same old-fashioned breakfast: three buttery medialunas, a café con leche “bowl,” and fresh-squeezed OJ. ☕🍊

Dad’s Grand Arrival

Hugs all around as Dad joins us. He’s jet-lagged from the Alberta→Calgary→Toronto→São Paulo→Buenos Aires odyssey.

Pizza Pilgrimage Continues

Back at El Tío, we dive into slices of Napolitana, anchovy, and gooey fugazzeta, washed down with a half-liter “medara” of house red wine.

Morning Medialuna Ritual

Day 2 starts the same: three more medialunas each, plus café con leche and OJ. “Can’t stop, won’t stop!” 🍩

Naval Club Executive Lunch

Dad’s milanesa schnitzel with gravy, carrot & potato; I taste the rich bondiola (pork collar) & veggies. Both come with a glass of wine. 🥂

Chicken with Leek Cream Sauce

Audrey’s cozy plate: chicken breast in leek-cream, mashed-potato swirl & seasonal vegetables.

Triple-Threat Desserts

We sample three classics: creamy flan, gooey dulce de batata with cheese, and an airy “floating island” meringue. 🍮

El Norte Late-Night Feast

Back at our favourite Belgrano resto after a 10 p.m. stroll, we order rabas (fried calamari) and local brews.

“Pescado a la Pizza” Adventure

Audrey tries fish topped with tomato-cheese pizza fixings—“fish and fries” on steroids!

Milanesa Marathon

Dad sticks to a classic milanesa & fries, plus a green salad “to balance” the carb overload.

Long Bus Ride to Necochea

We board the overnight coach: endless Argentine pampas, grazing cattle, palm-dotted prairies. 🌾

Late-Night Ice Cream Run

Arriving at 10 p.m. in Necochea, we wander to La Sirena bakery—still kicking after 55 years! 🍨

Grand Seaside Dinner

At 11 p.m., we feast on rabas & local beer by the Atlantic. “Unheard-of for us, but totally normal here.”

Final Thoughts & What’s Next

Full to bursting, we promise more Nicochea stories—family disco lore, childhood beaches, and why Mum opened a 1960s “confitería-dance hall.”
