Back pain can have causes that aren't due to underlying disease. Examples include overuse such as working out or lifting too much, prolonged sitting and lying down, sleeping in an uncomfortable position or wearing a poorly fitting backpack.
Conditions commonly causing Back Pain include:
- Muscle or ligament strain
- Bulging or ruptured disks
- Arthritis
- Osteoporosis

Other causes of back pain
Spine disc wear and tear: Known as lumbar degenerative disc disease (DDD).
Spine is made up of many bones separated by discs and when these discs get damaged it causes pain.
Mostly it happens in lower back or near neck. It’s normal to find some degree of damaged discs in patients above 60 years.
Spondylosis:A general term for age-related wear and tear of the spinal discs.
Spondylosis is common and worsens with age.
This is caused due to arthritis of spine.
Scoliosis:Sideways bending of spine. Occurs in kids in between 10 to 15 years of age.
