MEDICAL ANIMATION TRANSCRIPT:

How does the Ear work?
The main function of the ear is hearing and maintaining balance.
Sound waves are directed through the external auditory canal to eardrum causing it to vibrate.
Middle ear bones transmit and amplify these vibrations before reaching the inner ear.
Special sensory hair cells in Cochlea convert sound vibrations into electrical impulses.
These impulses are carried to the brain via the Auditory nerve.
The brain then translates these electrical impulses as sound.
Special sensory cells within Semicircular canals and vestibule detect fluid shifts during movements.
These cells send impulses to the brain via the Vestibular nerve helping us to maintain balance.
