Patricia Smith, a 50-year-old interior designer, is home by herself eating a Wendy's burger when a man sneaks in through her garage, attacks her with a hammer, and kills her. Just six days later, he does the same to an entire family.

A cop arrests him the next day when he’s caught hitchhiking out of town, but overcrowded jails land him in Utah. During a transfer stop in Henderson, Nevada, he escapes and brutally attacks a sleeping couple with an axe handle. Finally, in 1985, Nevada sentenced him to 110 years for the brutal axe handle attack in Henderson.

But it wasn’t until 2018, thanks to Brianna’s Law, that DNA finally linked him to the Colorado murders. He received four life sentences, bringing long-overdue justice.
