Scott Cortez is a huge figure in Shoegaze history. It was a pleasure and a real privilege to be able to speak to him. Forming Loveliescrushing and Astrobrite amongst many other projects and collaborations are touchstones of his long career that saw him take the genre to extremes in terms of noise, amplitude and modulation, making no compromises to fit a mainstream audience. This wasn't just indie rock with a few splashes of drone here and there. This is the genre without boundaries! Scott Cortez is largely responsible for taking the genre into the 21st century with so many releases in the 2000's. Here's my interview
