Elvis's core backing band throughout his 1950s rock'n'roll years.Sun Records owner Sam Phillips introduced Elvis to guitarist Scotty Moore and upright-bass played Bill Black. This came about after Sam Phillips invited Elvis into the studio to record a song that Phillips felt would be good for Elvis.
Elvis cut five singles with Scotty and Bill at Sun Records. They all had a label credit as "Elvis, Scotty and Bill".
Drummer DJ Fontana joined up with Scotty and Bill shortly before Elvis moved to RCA and released Heartbreak Hotel.
