Former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney predicts that Mark Carney’s new role as the next prime minister of Canada will make a difference in the US relationship.

Former UK and Canada central bank chief Mark Carney will become the next prime minister of Canada after winning the Liberal leadership race.

Mr Mulvaney told Sky News Australia that the relationship between Justin Trudeau and Donald Trump “could be significant” in the country’s connection.

“Any time where there’s a new government, there’s a chance to start from scratch,” he said.
