Psychologists Max and Ellen suggest that she play his part to gain a deeper understanding of the situation. Gradually Lucie realises that she is stuck in the role of saviour and unconsciously replay her childhood experience of the lack of a mother figure.
Max and Ellen gradually unfold the heroine's process. The main insight comes through spontaneous play: when Lucie allows herself to live out her loneliness without solving other people's problems, she sees for the first time how her involvement only perpetuates the problem. She is now ready to let go of control and stop rescuing her stepson, realising that her deepest task is to learn to play and enjoy life again.

In each episode of this series, Max and Ellen guide a client through resolving a specific problem, conflict, or personal challenge. They demonstrate how to "unfold" the process to discover insights and reveal the true beauty of human nature.
These episodes don’t offer ready-made answers —they show the process of exploration, where each step emerges from a person’s unique experience in a unique context. Perhaps something will resonate with you, or your process may be completely different.
Max and Ellen Schupbach are the founders of the Deep Democracy Institute International (DDI). In their work, they use the process-oriented approach in psychology developed by Arnold Mindell and his colleagues.
