President Donald Trump has backed a plan to deport United States residents to El Salvador’s most notorious prison, CECOT. El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele proposed deporting criminals from the US to CECOT — a jail described as “hell on earth” and the “world’s worst prison”.
The prison is known for its extreme conditions and regulations, with escape impossible.
Trump and his supporters see the plan as a way to “clean up” America’s streets at a low cost and carry out his mass deportations plan, but critics say it’s legally and morally questionable.
