Just gotta vent about Zootopia 2. Everyone’s buzzing over the teaser, but I’m not thrilled. It picks up only a week after the first movie. Why no time skip? I wanted to see Nick and Judy settled in, working cases, bonding with the team. Instead, they’re fugitives already, which feels dumb. Even the interview confirmed Nick doesn’t even get his first paycheck before it all goes sideways. I get movies need stakes, but the fugitive angle would’ve worked better in a third film. Plus, adding reptiles as a hidden oppressed group makes the world confusing. In the first movie, Bogo said “Ladies and Gentlemammals,” clearly showing reptiles weren’t evolved. Now they suddenly exist in hiding? Even if they explain it, it’ll probably feel forced. I’d rather have seen Nick and Judy as partners learning to balance Judy’s boldness with Nick’s caution. Their differences complete them, but this setup needed more time to breathe—not a rushed timeline. This isn’t what I wanted from the sequel.
