Sittin' here a thousand miles from nowhere
People, I'm in my one room country little shack
I'm sittin' here a thousand miles from nowhere
People, I'm in my own, own one room country little shack
All my worries and companion
Is an old, is an old 'leven foot cotton sack
I'm wanna leave, oh early in the mornin'
People, because I'm 'bout to go out on my mind
I'm gonna leave you early in the mornin'
People, because, just because I'm 'bout to go out on my mind
I'm gonna find me some kind of good woman
Even if she's dumb, deaf, crippled or blind
So many ways you can get the blues
So many ways
So, so many ways you can get the blues
Yes, when you're down here on one of these cotton fields
Lord, you ain't got nothing to lose
Jim Riley is probably best known as a producer/sound engineer at his own Ranscombe Studios in Rochester, Kent (since 2002) but he is also a highly respected musician, having for many years fronted bands including Wipeout, The Brothers Grimm, The Herbs and The Gurus Of The New Millennium.
In March, 2017 Jim joined Medway indie legends The Claim on stage at the 100 Club for a one off performance of Sonny Boy Williamson’s ‘Help Me’ and everyone enjoyed the experience so much they decided to get a set together under the name of Jim Riley’s Blues Foundation to play a few gigs and record an album.
“This album was recorded in the summer of 2017. All the songs were recorded live in a room together with a few bits and bobs added afterwards. It is raw and honest and was a great joy to have worked on with great people. We hope you enjoy listening to this LP as much as we enjoyed recording it.” - Jim Riley, 27th December 2017
