The highly anticipated destination event, held on the beaches of Punta Cana was meant to be a special experience for attendees, but disappointment quickly set in when fans realized that the band’s two headlining performances featured nearly identical setlists with the band repeating four songs - Fear Inoculum, Rosetta Stoned, Pneuma, and Jambi, on both nights.
With fans paying $5000+ for packages, many felt short changed, boo'd the band and put up signs saying "F**k MJK". Following this, the Law Office of Stas Rusek is seeking to file a class action lawsuit against the organizers of the Tool in the Sand festival for potential breach of contract and misrepresentation for not performing "two unique Tool performances".
Tool has yet to address the backlash publicly, they’re currently moving forward with their Latin American tour which starts on March 15th in Mexico City.
