Here's how to make a Big Mac at home, but 10x better. 

Step 1: Prep & Cook the Patties
Start with 80/20 ground beef. You're going to want two smash patties for each burger, so plan accordingly. Roll into equal-sized balls.

Heat a griddle or pan to medium-high and add the meat. Use a press or a firm spatula to smash them down really well. Season with salt & pepper. 

Step 2: Prep the Buns
Each Big Mac has three bun halves— two bottom halves and one top half. If you want to mimic that classic McDonald's taste, be sure they're sesame seed buns.

Carefully cut your buns into three pieces per person. As your meat finishes cooking, add each bun to the griddle to get toasty in those delicious beef drippings.

Step 3: Create the Sauce
Mix together mayo, relish, mustard, paprika, white vinegar, garlic powder, celery seeds, and salt & pepper. 

The longer you let the flavors marry, the better it's going to taste. 

Step 4: Prep the Toppings
Finely chop some iceberg lettuce and onions of your choice and set aside. Section out at least 6 pickle slices per Big Mac, and set those aside, too. 

I'm going with American cheese since we're still looking for that Big Mac flavor. After you've flipped your patties, add a slice of cheese to each. 

Step 5: Assemble the Burgers
Add some sauce and pickles to your bottommost bun piece before topping with a patty. 

Spread a little more sauce on your middle bun piece before adding the lettuce and a few more pickle slices. Top this with your second patty. 

Finish off with even more sauce on the topmost bun and a sprinkle of diced onions. 


They might be charging an arm and a leg for Big Macs these days, but they don't even come close to this recipe.
