This is the brand new Diezel VH Micro Amp Head, which we were lucky enough to get a very short preview and play of at 42 Gear Street Three!

The Diezel VH Micro is a mini-sized (and mini-priced!) take on the full-size Diezel tube amp heads beloved of high gain guitarists everywhere. It clocks in at €299 (or around $330 in North America), which is a fraction of what its full-sized big brothers cost, but it packs a hefty amount of metal tone into its tiny enclosure.

You get just the one channel – let’s be honest, no one is going to be buying this amp for the clean tones – but you can sculpt the high-gain sounds to your personal taste easily using the Deep, Presence, Bass, Middle, Treble and Gain controls, with a Master control for the overall volume level.

Power-wise, the VH Micro features a 30-watt Class D power amp when run at 16 ohms – so it should keep up with drummers if you’re lucky, and it’ll handle rehearsals and home playing no problem. It’s also ideal for recording, as you can plug it straight into your audio interface or mixer. It looks cool as hell, and it feels pretty solid too, quality-wise – it’s made in China, unlike the full-size Diezel amps, but of course if it was made in America it’d cost a good deal more.
