Description:
In this video we'll have a closer look on Egypt's plan for a megaproject that may increase its habitable land area and may generate thousands of jobs, leading Egypt to becoming the most important country in Africa.
The Qattara Depression is an area located deep into the desert inside Egypt that is located under sea level. The plan is to flood this area and to create a gian lake 55 km into the desert. This will dramatically change the climate in the region, causing rains and increasing humidity which will make the soil around suitable for agriculture.
You'll find out all the details in the video, so make sure you watch it.
Feel free to write your opinion about this in the commnets.

Egypt has a plan to solve its demographics problem. With less than 4% of its landmass being habitable, it’s hard to imagine how 113.5 million people can live in an area comparable to the size of Switzerland which has a population of 8.7 millions.
The solution proposed by Egypt is to transform the desert area in the Qattara Depression into a habitable place suitable for farming. To achieve this, a 55 kilometers canal would have to be built in order to bring the water from the Mediterranean Sea into the desert. Flooding the Qattara Depression will result in a 20,000 km2 lake. Tons of water per hour will evaporate, increasing humidity and rainfall, which would in turn make some of the surrounding land arable and also allow for the settlement of new cities set on the waterfront.
This constant influx of water would create immense opportunity for hydroelectric power making the project to pay for itself.
As the previous similar plan called Toshka Project gone bad, it is very doubtful that this new plan will succeed. But what do you think?
