In September 1959, leaders of the UK's three main political parties spoke to ITN about their respective manifestos, the collections of policies and pledges which each party hoped would persuade voters to back them on the ballot paper. Harold Macmillan, UK Prime Minister and Conservative Party Leader, spoke to Brian Connell about the Tory manifesto entitled "The Next Five Years". Labour Party leader Hugh Gaitskell was interviewed by Reginald Bosanquet on his party's manifesto, "Britain Belongs to You". And Frank Byers, chairman of the Liberal Party's campaign committee, discussed the contents of "People Count".
