Southern B.C. remained on “red alert” Saturday as the first of back-to-back storms began drenching the already flood-weary part of the province. Heather Yourex-West reports from Abbotsford, where residents are still dealing with the cleanup from another flood.

It’s estimated that the bill for the flooded farms in B.C. could cost billions of dollars, but beyond the financial impact, there is also the emotional toll on the farmers themselves. Neetu Garcha reports on what’s at stake in the recovery process.

The U.K., Germany, Italy and the Netherlands have all confirmed cases of the Omicron COVID-19 variant, which was first discovered in South Africa. Now, governments including Canada are restricting travel from several southern African nations. Mike Le Couteur has more.

The United States is also imposing travel restrictions from eight southern African countries starting Monday. No cases of the Omicron variant have been identified in the U.S. yet, but as Jennifer Johnson explains, the country is grappling with its own rising COVID-19 caseloads.
