The ever-increasing prevalence and sophistication of cyber threats pose significant challenges for organisations operating in resource-constrained environments, such as small to medium size businesses and non-profit organisations. Protecting sensitive data and mission critical infrastructure from cyber-attacks requires robust cyber defence measures, which often come with a hefty price tag. Unfortunately, these organisations don’t have large scale budgets to spend on securing their information systems. On top of that it’s impossible to protect against every possible threat under the sun. This presentation is about a strategy to maximise the return on investment of the monies spent around protecting the organisation using a detection engineering enrichment methodology driven by Cyber Threat Intelligence. This approach emphasizes leveraging actionable threat intelligence to inform targeted defence measures. By harnessing comprehensive and timely information about emerging threats, attack techniques, and adversary behaviours, organisations can make informed decisions on prioritizing their security investments and resource allocations. I’ll be discussing practical approaches to prioritising the cyber spend to increase visibility, approaches to understand the telemetries used by threat actors to engineer better protections, and methodology to identify threat actors that are likely to attack your organisation. This presentation provides a roadmap for organizations to mitigate risks, protect critical assets, and foster a resilient cyber defence posture in environments where resource limitations are prevalent.
