So… what is Rockabye?
Rockabye is a brand new queer and BIPOC lead sci-fi/horror/comedy musical project written by Sushi Soucy and performed at the Bay Street Theater over the summer. We filmed the original cast performance and released it to watch for free on YouTube. We recently recorded a cast album together with all of the songs from the musical. It follows the story of a small struggling rock band that gets hired to write a lullaby for the eldritch horror, Azathoth. With lore from the works of H.P. Lovecraft, this musical is a comedic spin on the horrific creatures within that universe. This musical was written and lead by queer BIPOC for queer BIPOC to provide more representation within the musical theatre industry.
If you want to follow our journey through making the album and possibly making it to more venues, feel free to follow us!
