Eid home-goers suffered on both online and offline platforms for obtaining train tickets at Kamalapur rail station in Dhaka on Friday as Bangladesh Railway started selling advance tickets ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.Many people left the station without any tickets despite standing in queues for hours since Thursday night.
People alleged that they also could not buy tickets online due to inaccessibility on the server.
The sale of advance train tickets for July 5 north-bound special trains started at Kamalapur station at 8:00am on Friday and they were sold out within hours.
Chaos was created at the women’s counter as ticket-seekers formed five queues instead of one.
Complaining about the incident, a number of female ticket seekers said that there should have been two counters for women.
