Several shots of Crown Prince Akhito and his new wife Michiko Shoda posing on the steps of the Imperial Palace in evening dress (western).



L/S of Kashikodorkoro, the wooden shrine inside the Palace where the couple were married. The Prince and attendants in traditional Japanese dress walk around the balcony of the building and go inside. Several shots of the bride and groom in traditional robes.



Several shots of crowds in the street cheering and waving flags, waiting for the procession to come along the streets. We see the open royal carriage leave the Palace with the couple inside. They ride through the streets, waving to the people.



Suddenly, a young man, Kensetsu Nakayama runs to the carriage, throws a stone at the Prince and tries to grab the bride. Police rush forward and wrestle him to the ground. The royals recover and drive on, still waving.



At Akihito's Palace we see the couple posing with Emperor Hirohito and his wife (Princess Nagako?).
