Doechii and Issa Rae take the Genius Open Mic stage over for a very special rendition of “Denial is a River.” A standout track from the TDE star’s acclaimed mixtape “Alligator Bites Never Heal,” the song cleverly pays homage to a famous Wendy Williams interview, blending sharp humor with deep introspection along the way.Issa Rae and Doechii add a new dimension to the acclaimed single that incorporates “the pure storytelling element of Hip-Hop” with an evocative journal entry-inspired anthem.
This is another big moment for Doechii, who is also making waves this award season with four Grammy nominations: Best Rap Album, Best New Artist, Best Rap Performance and Best Remixed Recording. On top of that, she recently delivered renowned show-stopping performances on NPR Tiny Desk and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Since joining OPEN MIC, Doechii has also announced a "Denial Is a River Show" co-starring Zack Fox, ScHoolboy Q, and Earl Sweatshirt as Brad Pitt. "La Rosa De Doechii" is already out as a Spanish language novela skit.
