Thank you for watching!The Massachusetts flag we know today was adopted in 1971, but the symbols on the flag date all the way back to the Massachusetts Bay Colony. In more recent years, the flag has faced scrutiny for its depiction of a Native American man directly underneath a sword. A special redesign commission was created in 2021, but the commission expired before completing its task.
