The bright green ODR-Mini and its bigger brother – the ODR-1 – were under the general guitar pedal radar for a long time, but they’re now widely known as being the secret behind the tones of many top Nashville country guitar session players.
They’re revered for their sparkly low gain tones, and are talked about as being one of the hallowed transparent overdrive pedals, in the vein of the Paul Cochrane Timmy, the Greer Lightspeed, the Analogman King Of Tone, and so on.
That all said, there’s not that many demos of the pedal out there, especially with humbuckers, so I thought I’d play a bit of indie, classic rock and punk on the ODR-Mini too – using my Fender Telecaster and my Epiphone Les Paul traditional Pro – and see what happens! I also threw together two loops where I tweak the three controls on the pedal to really show you the full extent of the tones on offer.

30:42 My review of the Nobels ODR-Mini
33:37 Final conclusion and goodbye!
My setup was as follows: I ran the ODR-Mini straight into my Hughes & Kettner Black Spirit 200 head. That went from the Red Box DI straight into my Focusrite Scarlett 2i4, which went into Logic Pro X. That's it. No post-processing on the sounds was done. Oh, and I used my TC Electronic Ditto Looper to play the loops.
Here’s some links to those bits of gear:
