A quick preview of our new Big Ideas, and the shows they will encompass in 2010-11.

Using the lens of our 'Big Ideas' we are creating an arts center that invites exploration and risk-taking, quiet reflection and active engagement, perhaps even a brush with the sublime. The strong film, visual arts, and performance programs that are the hallmark of YBCA, coupled with our endlessly creative and evolving approach to public programs, revolutionizes the way you engage with contemporary art.

In keeping with this vision YBCA has chosen four Big Ideas to organize its wide-ranging programs starting this fall: ENCOUNTER: Engaging the social context, SOAR: The search for meaning, REFLECT: Considering the personal and DARE: Innovations in art, action, audience. These ideas, which encompass art from all disciplines, are designed to focus an investigation of contemporary art and its relationship to the larger world.
