An Illinois sheriff's deputy is being accused of murder in the death of a black woman whom he had a heated argument over a pot of water in her house and then dissuaded his partner from attempting to save her. The information was contained in a court filing that supported Sean Grayson, the fired Sangamon County Deputy, remaining in detention without posting bond. At a hearing on Thursday in Springfield, County Circuit Judge Ryan M. Cadagin concurred and denied Grayson pretrial release. The prosecution claimed that after Massey moved a pot of boiling water on the stove and placed it on a counter, Grayson "aggressively yelled" at her and produced a 9 mm handgun. After putting her hands up and saying "I'm sorry," Massey crouched to hide before being shot. Prosecutors claimed that Grayson allegedly dissuaded the other deputy from obtaining his medical kit and the callous crime had now fallen on the police officer. The irony is that she called 911 out of fear of an intruder in her home and instead became the victim.
