Lexington Minutemen Outlast Shelby Whippets in District Tournament Preview

The Lexington Minutemen went into a hostile environment and outlasted the Shelby Whippets 66-59 in a possible Division 2 Ashland District preview.

The Whippets (18-3) opened up its Senior Night strong jumping out to an early lead but the Minutemen (18-3) battled back to make it a 2 point game at 15-13 after one. The two teams then exchanged buckets throughout the second as Shelby went into the break up 29-26.

Lexington then started to take over in the second half posting 20 in the third quarter to take a 46-42 lead into money time. They then matched that output in the fourth while the Whippets cooled off from the field to pull away.

The Minutemen had three players finish in double-figures as Brayden Fogle scored a game-high 21 points. Hudson Moore and Baden Forup (double-double) followed with 18 points each.

Shelby had two score in double digits as Casey Lantz led the way with 17 points while Alex Bruskotter followed with 16 points.

Both teams have one game remaining in the regular season as Shelby looks to clinch an outright MOAC title when they head to Ontario while Lexington looks to lock up the OCC when they host Mansfield Senior.
