Free Nelson Mandela was a protest against the imprisonment of Nelson by the apartheid South African government.

Nelson Mandela was eventually released and has sadly since died but during those intervening years there is no denying he was a colossus of a man.

This song was hugely important in bringing the apartheid issue to the fore and I take my hat off to The Specials for having the vision and courage to help bring about the release of this special man and for creating such a brilliant song which has stood the test of time.
