Join me on a walking tour through Tihany, one of Hungary’s most charming and scenic villages, located on a volcanic peninsula jutting into the northern shores of Lake Balaton, just two hours southwest of Budapest.

🗺️ Where is Tihany and How to Get There?
Tihany lies in the heart of the Balaton Uplands National Park, making it a perfect weekend getaway from Budapest.
🚆 By train: Take a train from Budapest Déli Station to Balatonfüred (about 2 hours), then hop on a local bus or taxi for the 15-minute ride to Tihany.
🚗 By car: It’s an easy and scenic 1.5 to 2-hour drive via the M7 motorway.
🛥️ In summer, ferries also cross the lake from the southern side, connecting to Tihany.

🏰 Tihany Abbey & Royal History
This 1,000-year-old abbey overlooks the lake and is a symbol of Hungarian heritage. Founded in 1055, it still houses the original founding charter—the oldest written record in the Hungarian language!
