This isn’t necessarily always the biggest artist to come out of each year as of today (although sometimes it is of course), this list is more-so who had the biggest blow up during that year at the time, although I still wanted to keep off artists who disappeared the year after. There’s some artists on here who made music for a while before their blow up but they’re still included, so they don’t have to be BRAND NEW. Also this list is on a global scale, some artists were big in their home countries for a while before international stardom.

There’s a few things that can make this list tricky, first is artists that have more of a gradual fade into popularity. Take Sabrina Carpenter for example, she reached her absolute peak in 2024 but she wasn’t a completely unknown artist by the masses. Her music just gradually got more and more popular over the years which makes it hard to pinpoint an exact blowup. Other times are when artists blowups are split across two years, take Justin Bieber for example who technically started getting popular in late 2009 which carried over to 2010, due to both years competition he just couldn’t make it. Britney Spears however, had much less competition for 1998 which is why she’s in the video despite also being split across years. Tricky list but I think it turned out all right.
