Jeezy stops by to talk with DJ Felli Fel while promoting his new book ‘Adversity For Sale: Ya Gotta Believe.” To start off the conversation, Felli asks Jeezy how he got his start in music. Jeezy goes on to detail his first experiences working with music were when he would DJ for his peers at small gatherings. He also shares that his DJ gigs were a good cover for his real focus which was hustling at the time.Jeezy then talks about his first ever studio experience, and making the transition into becoming an artist. He shares that he wasn’t very good at first, but improved over time, and compares his trajectory as an artist to Eazy-E. Jeezy shares that everything changed with his ‘Trap Or Die’ project and reminisces on when Magic City would play the entire project from front to back.
When Felli asks Jeezy how he got signed to Def Jam, Jeezy shares it was by bringing label executives to experience the club’s energy when his mixtape was being played. Def Jam immediately knew he had to be signed after witnessing the strip club go crazy when Jeezy’s music was playing!
DJ Felli Fel also asks Jeezy who is a better storyteller between Biggie and Ice Cube, and asks Jeezy his thoughts on the NBA’s new no flopping rule.
