did you know this Blondie song was a cover? 🤷‍♀️ Blondie’s “The Tide is High”, the band’s third US number one single in 1980, was originally written by John Holt of Jamaican rocksteady band The Paragons 🌊 Their version appeared on 1967’s Rocksteady classic “On the Beach”, an LP which is also famous, according to legend, for including the recording which Ruddy Redwood, while cutting a dubplate for King Tubby and Bunny Lee, accidentally muted the vocals, and accidentally invented dub music in the process!
