South Africa is the latest country to be on President Trump's target list. In the last few weeks, Trump has targeted China, Mexico and Canada. Right now, it is South Africa. The US President has announced that he intends to cut aid to South Africa as a result of a land reform bill that was recently approved in South Africa. According to Trump, the bill allegedly mistreats certain groups of people in the country. However, the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa has rejected Trump’s allegations and dismissed Trump’s threat. But what exactly is the land reform bill that has placed South Africa on Trump’s target list? Let's find out.
In a message published on his Truth Social platform, US President Trump stated “"South Africa is confiscating land, and treating certain classes of people VERY BADLY. It is a bad situation that the Radical Left Media doesn’t want to so much as mention. A massive Human Rights VIOLATION, at a minimum, is happening for all to see”. Later on, Trump added that the leadership and administration of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, is doing some horrible things which are currently being investigated by the US. And, until the whole issue is determined, all future funding to South Africa has been put on hold.
Elon Musk, the world’s richest man and a close ally of the US President has also expressed his thoughts on the land reform bill. Musk shared a post on X, claiming that South African farmers are in "grave danger" following the bill’s approval. In another tweet, he said that South Africa is steadily becoming a communist country. Musk has also accused South African President Cyril Ramaphosa of implementing “openly racist ownership laws.
