Continuing our series of hits radio music from the 80s, Z-Bear plays a cross section of songs mostly from the latter half of the decade. Previous episodes have featured songs centered in Rock and New Wave. However today's show focuses on dance oriented pop and R&B. In these selections you can hear the echoes of styles past like Disco and Funk yet also hear the synths and drum machines that would soon become the foundation for EDM.

In making this show it became how glaringly obvious that in the 1980s Hip-Hop and Rap were not yet given airplay on most radio stations. This lead to the popularity of mixtapes and boomboxes starting an alternative way of discovering music which prevails today on platforms like Soundcloud and Spotify. We are in the process of curating music for an upcoming series that focuses on the mixtape era of the 80s & 90s.
