Coming up as a record collector in her hometown of San Diego, Melissa pursued DJing as a means to create space for overlooked sounds. As a DJ she’s known for building eclectic sets that weave together dance music from the past and present. Melissa’s played in various cities across the U.S. and in Mexico City. She’s opened up for artists like Quantic, Peanut Butter Wolf, and Dam-Funk. Throughout the years she’s had radio residencies on WorldWideFM and Dublab where she took deep dives into various facets of music culture through her curation and guest interviews. No matter what she’s doing, Melissa’s intention is always to use music as a vehicle for dialogue, healing, and community.
