A blast from the past. Used to listen to Radio Jackie in the early 1980's as did many in the Liverpool area. Rick Dane (Eric Haydock) used to play great rock music.
Broadcasting illegally from numerous sites across town, mostly from the high rise flats in Cantril Farm as they could get a better signal higher up!
The GPO were always after them and occasionally they would suddenly go off air as the Post Office enforcers closed in on them...lol.
We used to send in requests and then listened in excitedly to hear them! Being a pirate station made it all the more fun.
Sadly Eric suffered from depression for many years and committed suicide in 2002.
