Kumbh Mela is an important Hindu pilgrimage, celebrated approximately every 12 years, for each revolution of Brihaspati, attracting the largest recorded public gatherings of Hindus. Kumbh is held at four riverside pilgrimage sites, namely: Prayagraj (Ganges-Yamuna-Sarasvati rivers confluence), Haridwar (Ganges), Nashik (Godavari), and Ujjain (Shipra). In 2022, after a seven century break, Bansberia (Hooghly), hosted the pilgrimage again.
