I can't believe I haven't done a Satchmo countdown yet. Shame on me!

Louis Armstrong was a singer, trumpeter, and corneter whose influence on jazz music is immeasurable. His success began in the 1920s when he began to record with his band "Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five." Satchmo remained active throughout the decades and continued creating hit records until his death in 1971. His popularity was ongoing years after his death, having a charting album as recently as 2003. Considering that he recorded his first hit record in 1923, his popularity lasted for 80 years! Armstrong continues to inspire jazz musicians (like myself) to this day.
