The Boss dropped in today and I managed to get a rare interview captured on video.

Before moving to France, and even before we had decided to move to France, I had been watching two channels daily on YouTube that shared their daily vlogs about two very different projects.

The first was Dan on @escapetoruralfrance who I had watched now and then when he was restoring his family home. There was a big shift in regularity of watching his vlogs when he started work on restoring his ruin of a Chateau. When you think back to the first videos when he started to strim around the building just to gain access compared to where he is at now, putting the first part of the roof on, it really is inspiring to see something on that scale be almost* single handily restored by one man. When I replaced the floor over the basement it really hit home how much work was involved with the Chateau renovation. I had to climb up and down out of the basement and lug great big heavy beams in by myself, which were really too heavy to lift for one man, and here was Dan dragging them and every bucket of mortar up ladders to reach the floors he was working on, and at the end of the day still having time to edit and upload a daily vlog.

The second channel was Billy @ThePethericks. I didn't have 400k to spend on a house but I could relate to the numbers after owning a house in Dublin during the Celtic Tiger years that cost nearly half a million for a two up, two down ex council house that was built out of poured concrete. Here was Billy buying a convent complete with gardens, countless rooms, a chapel and accommodation for the same money. Billy has had a host of people working on the project with him and they all bring their own specific bit of knowledge which has stuck in my head and that has helped me at various stages of this renovation.

We are only seven weeks in to this but we are starting to see some light at the end of what is a short tunnel. Today was mainly a day focused on plastering and tomorrow will be the same with some time spent cleaning up. Six days till the kitchen arrives and we have an electrician that has gone AWOL. The daily Vlogs are a great way for me to record and process my day and quite often I find myself figuring stuff out talking to the camera. It's also great that strangers I've never met have connected with the project and are coming back to check on the progress.
