The Perkins Lady Pirates are headed to the Division 2 District Semifinals after upsetting top-seeded Madison, 6-5.The #1 seeded Lady Rams scored three in the bottom of the third to start the scoring, but the #5 seeded Lady Pirates added a run of their own in the top of the fourth to trim Madison's lead to two runs.
Despite a strong performance on the mound from Madison's Layla Azmoun (7 IP, 8 SO's), Perkins got their offense going at just the right time. The Lady Pirates scored five runs on three hits in the top of the sixth to earn a 6-4 advantage.
Madison was able to drive in a run via a Liv Schulz drive to deep center field, but their comeback efforts would fall just a run short, falling to the Lady Pirates 6-5.
Perkins will advance to the D2 Willard District Semifinal where they will face #4 Clyde on Tuesday at 4:00 PM.
