Welcome back to another episode of every country in 1 minute.
Today we’ll learn about Algeria which is the largest country in Africa.
Around 44 million people live in Algeria and the capital of the country is Algiers.
The country’s GDP is around 145 billion dollars and it’s ranked around 53rd in the world for GDP and ranked 84th for GDP per Capita.
Almost 90% of Algeria’s exports are related to Petroleum, and majority of imports apart from machinery is actually food-related products like Wheat, Corn, and Milk.
They export mostly to European countries like Italy, France, and Spain, and they import products from them, but they mostly again import from China.
Majority of the country are muslims and they speak Algerian Arabic.
But most people also unofficially speak a lot of French because Algeria used to be a part of France from mid-1800s until their independence in 1962. Currently they have a president and a prime minister.
Around 90% of the people in the country live in the northern parts because more than 80% of Algeria is the Sahara Desert.
