Born June 22, 1936, Kris Kristofferson would have turned 89 tomorrow. A Rhodes Scholar‑turned‑outlaw songwriter, he penned timeless classics like “Me and Bobby McGee,” “Help Me Make It Through the Night,” and “Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down,” deeply redefining country music and earning his place in the Country Music Hall of Fame. He also starred in A Star Is Born, winning a Golden Globe, and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and Country Hall of Fame.
An Army helicopter pilot and poet, Kris joined The Highwaymen with Cash, Nelson & Jennings, became a film actor, and inspired generations. He passed away September 28, 2024, at age 88, but his voice and lyrical power remain immortal.
