In 1982, Mariah Barton wrote and recorded the notorious honky-tonk anthem, "Show Me Your P*nis," a raucously catchy, tongue-in-cheek track that raised plenty of eyebrows and even more hemlines. Deceptively playful and impossible to forget, the song was banned on half the country’s radio stations (and secretly adored by the other half). With its rollicking hooks and a winking chorus, "Show Me Your P*nis" became a jukebox favorite in smoky bars from Amarillo to Chattanooga, cementing Mariah's place as country’s cheekiest outlaw.
Mariah’s outsize charisma and fearless songwriting turned her into a cult icon. She paved the way for future generations of female artists unafraid to ruffle feathers—and occasionally start a honky-tonk riot. Now retired, she prefers gardening to guitars, but country fans will never forget the summer of '82, when Mariah Barton boldly asked America’s men to… well, you know.
“Country needed a little mischief—and I was happy to bring it,” Mariah famously quipped in a 1989 interview with Rolling Haybale Magazine.
