Maryland-based artist Eric Carter creates painterly works in bold, vibrant color. His paintings will appear on view at the Agora Gallery in New York City from June 27 – July 17, 2019, as part of the group exhibition “Summer Idyll”. Carter works in oil, experimenting with many styles. He chooses in his art practice to focus on the technical aspects of painting, rather than confining himself to any one particular style or genre. For Carter, each painting has a particular vision that he attempts to manifest. Carter uses an improvisational approach to painting, moving effortlessly between abstraction and figurative works. His abstract paintings are expressive and lively. They joyously celebrate color and the tactile qualities of paint. His figurative scenes are meticulously executed. Still lifes and landscapes are rendered with stunning accuracy and detail in sumptuous oil paint.
Carter is a former board member of The Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center and a member of the Frederick County Art Association, The Artist Angle in Frederick, MD, and the Washington County Arts Council. He is also the owner of the Sun Gallery of Fine Art in Funkstown, MD.
