When he stopped by, due to the way he dressed, the street vendor began packing up immediately since he was there illegally. Seeing his arms, the man asked about why. Turns out, he lost his arms at 9 years old after being electrocuted. The accident left him armless.
The man has been like that most of his life so he's grown used to it. He was born in 1996. He's still very young but his future quite bleak. On good days he makes $200 per day in local currency but on bad days he makes $30. Given the cost of the fruits he sometimes loses money. It's a very hard job but when asked when he doesn't consider other jobs he said that he has no other options.
The young man was understanding. He asked the street vendor what his wish was, and he said that he has no wish. He just wants to make more money to buy a phone for his aunt who raised him. His mother died when he was 10 and his father abandoned him to start another family. He was raised by his aunt alone.
He hasn't returned in years to his village and want to video call his aunt with the phone. But the ones he was looking for are $3k-4k in local currency. Life has been so hard on him that he said if there was another life... he wouldn't want to be here again.
The young man was speechless, he was so stunned that he didn't know what to say. He felt bad for asking such personal details about his life. From a complete stranger. He paid for the fruits $15 and later returned with a phone.
He said that he has opened it but didn't like the color but couldn't return it so might as well give it to him. This street vendor deserves a bit of kindness for all the hardships he went through. Let's hope he continues staying strong.
