A collection of frontline reports and news bulletins covering the War in Abkhazia between September 1992 and October 1993. Part of the broader Georgian Civil War, the war in Abkhazia saw Georgian government and paramilitary forces fight a coalition of Abkhaz separatist forces and North Caucasian militants. Included is Julian Manyon's report covering the capture of Sukhumi, Abkhazia's capital, by Abkhaz forces in September 1993, an event which led to widespread ethnic cleansing of the city's ethnic Georgian population by Abkhaz militants. Manyon's report was filmed by ITN cameraman Jon Steele, who can be seen bandaging the injured leg of a Georgian fighter, and whose work earned him the 'Story of the Year' award from the Royal Television Society and a citation for bravery from Le Press Club de France.
